COUNTDOWN TO FYF: FYF Fest started in 2004. That first year I had no idea what I was doing and anyone that was there would agree. The second year was more organized but not by much. Still chaotic but instead of being free it was $6 and schedules were printed (first there was just a poster board with the schedule written in sharpie taped to the wall outside of The Echo and within an hour the poster board was gone). For the third I decided to raise the ticket price and asked Keith Morris to curate the line up with me. He agreed. With a small budget we were now able to book a few touring bands. This in turn caused us to create long list of bands that we dreamed would one day play FYF. There was always two or three bands that were at the top of every list he made. One of those bands was Yo La Tengo. I was young then, 21, and not familiar with their catalog, just a few songs. This quickly changed and I became hooked. Seven years later, they are one of my favorite bands and I couldn’t be happier that they are playing the festival. Sunset slot on the main stage, right before Beach House. Perfect. ‎#47Days ‎#FYFFEST
